Country Chunkie Candles is owned by Kim and Gloria. They have an adorable website that is easy to navigate. Kim and Gloria have been making candles for 5 years. In addition to candles and lil chunkie melts they also sell bath and body products.

I will be reviewing 7 of their scents; Bird of Paradise, Butt Naked, Clothesline Fresh, Crème Brulee, Monkey Farts, Pomegranate, and Pumpkin Cheesecake.


Product and Price Information


Country Chunkie Candles` lil chunkie melts are 1.75 oz. The are packaged in plastic cups and sell for $1.00 each.


Bird of Paradise

I really enjoyed melting Country Chunkie Candles’ Bird of Paradise. Bird of Paradise is an interesting scent. It has a little bit of everything which I think will make this fragrance appealing to everyone. I was able to smell quite a bit of sweetness which I think that the bakery lover will enjoy. Complimenting the sweetness were fruit notes. On top of that was a light floral arrangement that added a nice complexity to the fragrance yet was never overwhelming.

Like all of Country Chunkie Candles’ wax products, Bird of Paradise’s wax was not dyed but instead had colorful chunks throughout the melt. Bird of Paradise’s chunks were orange. I melted this lil chunkie melt in my ceramic 25-watt (but I used a 40-watt bulb) tart burner in my house’s living room. I could smell Bird of Paradise throwing within 15 minutes.

Butt Naked

Country Chunkie Candles’ Butt Naked is a wonderful fruit type of scent. Butt Naked smells like a beautiful and fun combination of melons. This version wasn’t as sweet as other versions that I’ve tried however, it did smell more complex. My nose detected a light floral background which added beauty to this fragrance. Butt Naked is a perfect scent for spring and summer.

Clothesline Fresh

Clothesline Fresh is one of the best clean type of scents that I’ve ever smelled. Those of you familiar with my tastes know that I’m not a clean type of scent fan. Usually they are too strong for me. However, Country Chunkie Candles’ Clothesline Fresh is a beautiful scent that smells like a lot of thought went into it formulating the oil. Kim told me that this is her own combination of oils thus making this an exclusive fragrance.

Like I said before, clean scents usually aren’t my cup of tea because they usually throw very strong and end up irritating my head and sinuses. However, for some reason Clothesline Fresh is just right. It’s neither too strong nor too weak. Clothesline Fresh smells like clothes that have been washed and then left out to dry in the fresh spring air. I’m not an expert at describing clean scents so I’m going to try my best. I was able to smell ozone notes, fresh spring flowers, and powder.

Crème Brulee

If you are a bakery or vanilla fan, you have to try Country Chunkie Candles’ Crème Brulee. Within 5 minutes of melting this scent my mouth was literally drooling.

Crème Brulee smells like a rich custard with caramelized brown sugar on top. This fragrance smells so realistic and so delicious that you may not want to be around it if your are dieting because it will induce hunger.

Country Chunkie Candles’ Crème Brulee has brown chunks embedded in the wax. I melted this scent in my ceramic tea light burner in my master bedroom. I could smell it throwing within 5 minutes

Monkey Farts

I thought that reviewing a scent called Monkey Farts would be fun. What’s not to love about the name, right? Country Chunkie Candles’ Monkey Farts smells like a trip to South America. While sweet candy banana is the predominate note, there is a background note of greenery which helps to add a touch of authenticity to this banana scent. I wont say if the fragrance of this lil chunkie melt is authentic to a monkey’s toot because I’ve never smelled one and I hope that I never do.

Monkey Farts has green chunks throughout. I melted this fragrance in my family room’s 40-watt electric burner. I was able to smell Monkey Farts throwing with in 20 minutes.

Pomegranate

I am in love with Country Chunkie Candles’ Pomegranate. Their version of Pomegranate is very different from the other versions that I’ve smelled. Most Pomegranate fragrances have a strong perfume note to them which I don’t particularly care for. However, Country Chunkie Candles’ Pomegranate is more of a fruity and creamy kind of smell. I guess if you could make pomegranate ice cream, it would smell like Country Chunkie Candles’ Pomegranate

Country Chunkie Candles’ Pomegranate’s has pink chunks throughout the melt. I melted this fragrance in the metal tea light burner in my family room. I could smell it throwing within 15 minutes.

Pumpkin Cheesecake

I didn’t plan on including Country Chunkie Candles’ Pumpkin Cheesecake in this review because it’s not really a spring type of scent. However, I decided that this scent deserves attention because it’s one of the best pumpkin scents that I’ve ever smelled.

Kim told me that Pumpkin Cheesecake is one of her best sellers and I can smell why. Country Chunkie Candles’ Pumpkin Cheesecake smells like a real pumpkin cheesecake. I was able to smell cheesecake, sweet pumpkin, spice, and crust. This pumpkin scent is one of the richest smelling pumpkin scents that I’ve ever tried. Both cold and hot, it smells like the real thing.

Country Chunkie Candles’ Pumpkin Cheesecake has brown chunks embedded in the wax. I melted this scent in my metal tea light burner in my family room. Within 10 minutes I was able to smell this tart throwing. The fragrance could be smelled throughout my house’s entire first floor.

Conclusion

I’m so excited that Kim found SWC’s board because she introduced all of us to her fantastic fragrance. Country Chunkie Candles is definitely a new player in the soy candle and wax melt world. This company offers wonderful fragrances at great prices. When ordering from Country Chunkie Candles be ready to have your order filled with a big Texas smile.
